    Gas Tank Replacement?

How much would it cost to get a new one welded in including the new cell? Do they sell patch kits? I'm going to look at a 90 325i in great condition, and he said there is a small hole in the fuel cell. Would a patch be safe for an hour and half trip back to my house?

It involves dropping the whole rear. Apparently I drove 2 hours with a hole in my tank and didn't know till i filled up. It was at about 1/2 tank when I bought the car.

You need to pull the driveshaft, which may involve pulling the diff if there is a harmonic balancer over the guibo. Once that's out of the way you can just unbolt the tank and pull it down enough to unplug all of the fuel lines.

Try to see exactly where the leak is- it may just be a line on top of the tank.

Does JB weld work for this type of repair? I'd be tempted.
