    iPhone Dyno Application - Dyno in Your Pocket!

    We knew the Apple iPhone would allow for some really great automotive applications. Our pal Marty Padgett at The Car Connection even rounded up the best of the apps a few weeks ago, which we republished here . But what we were hoping for was something that completely leveraged the iPhone’s accelerometers to effectively create a VBox , just cheaper and smaller.
    It seems that application has arrived. View the incredible Dynolicious, a $12.99 automotive app for your iPhone. Using the phone’s built-in accelerometers, the app samples data “as many as one hundred times per second.” It creates a tiny automotive genius in your pocket—good to measuring the performance of whatever vehicle you’re in (we suppose it would work for running, too). It can measure things such as:

    * 0-60 MPH
    * Other Speed Tests (0-10 MPH through 0-100 MPH in 10MPH increments)
    * Quarter Mile Elapsed Time
    * Quarter Mile Trap Speed
    * Elapsed Time and Trap Speed for standard intervals (60', 330', 1/8 Mi, 1000')
    * Lateral G's (current and peak)
    * Braking G's (current and peak)
    * Wheel Horsepower
    * Estimated Engine Horsepower

    When you’re done recording your run, the Dynolicous app will show you your results with a speedometer and graphs, a skidpad display, and also against saved information in the unit. Change settings on your car and compare the times in different saved settings. We can’t wait to download this and put it to use in some of our cars.
    Hat tip to our pal Diego who found this beauty. Diego’s UGG Blog is a must-bookmark, if you haven’t already.

                yeah, i was just as suprised as you are. somehow I only managed to pull .8g in the corners where my buddy's corolla was pulling 1.1g. my tires were dead but i was still a little dissapointed.

                    i have it but havent really messed with it much because i cant find a good spot to mount the phone. it has to sit perfectly vertical or perfectly horizontal and cant move around.

                      electrical tape it to the center console just to the right of the ebrake.

                        preferably in a manner where i can remove it easily, but yeah that would be a good place. it would be nice to find some kind of mount for that spot so i can hook it up to my stereo, too.

                          I kind of want to try this, is it accurate at all? It's not too expensive if it is accurate.

                            That's cool, but, I'm kinda doubting 229hp for A 2520LB car that does a 16s 1/4 mile. Going off that, I should have somewhere around 260hp or so...

                            That shit would get me in a lot of trouble though...
