You never know whos going to show up.............

Drivers schools are a blast, not only fot he driving but also for the motorized eye candy.
The diversity of vehicles that show up at a school is astounding.

Heres a video that shows what attended and who drove at my last school at Summit Point. Window media window, about 6.6mb.

    Enjoy.

That car is cool. I love the sound of it :D
Ya, it is kind of strange for some one to bring something like that to a dirivers school.
    But who is complaining.

At one of the weekly euroteknik meets every thursday we had a guy who owns an e36 M3 lightweight, as well as a e30 M3 racecar.

The real deal, it had advertisements all over, full roll cage 5 point harnesses, and quite a bit of body damage actually. I guess they don't really care how it looks??? I didn't get that, but you forgot all about it, as it pulled away, and he took off hard, we heard him MILES away from us. Almost like he was coming right off the headers, no muffler at all.

Absolutely ridiculous, in an unbelievably awesome way. The CSL reminds me of that car.

my pads squeal twice as much as that when i drive in the city :). but not to jack the thread, that vid is awesome.. you can tell they're taking it waaay easy, which i don't blame them. I saw that same car last year at the HSR race at watkins glen. BMW was the featured marque so there were all sorts of sick rides... here's a few of the highlights for me:

Actually, Mario, that's where we installed your harnesses, right?.. in your M Coupe? so you were there to see these things.. i'm sure you have much better pictures than me.

                      this car was ill

LOL - race pads and sqealing go hand in hand. My '99 M Coupe sounded like that with race pads and I drove it like that on the street. I probably made a lot of people think that BMWs have shitty brakes or that I was a bad owner.

                        More information on that CSL.

The '75/'76 CSL is owned by BMW N.A. but maintained by PTG. It was driven by BMWs NA Chairman Tom Purves at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed this year. That Summit Point excursion was a shake down run. See last Months Roundel (October), more specifically Jeremy Waltons collum (p. 21, paragraph 4)

Actually I had no idea PTG was going to show up untill I heard of my track aquaintances say that PTG is scheduled to show up for some test driving during the one hour lunch break. I thought cool, but never thought that Auberlen and Purves and Tom MIlner would show up.

They also had a vintage 2002 race car there.

Actually I had no idea of the significance of the event until I had read Waltons collum. A big surprise indeed.

It was a real treat listening to Auberlen as he took the time to explain to joe everage school participant (esentially Bill own racing trials and tribulations) what it takes to get to the top and also his insight on what it was like to drive the V12 LMR. For being German, Milner has a great sense of humor.

If that wasnt enough, just before Auberlen left, he graciously signed the back of my helmet. Wish I had my helmet nearby when Boris Said signed my ///M hat at the Chemung Canal Trust Vintage Festival hosted by the Genesse Valley CCA Chapter at Watkins Glen last year.

Although the the first two school sessions were held in torrential rain, it was one of the best driving experiences I ever had, TEAM PTG was the icing on the cake thus making this school worth more than the $175 paid (and I ALMOST LEFT). Driving on a race course in the rain ads a totaly different dimension to a school. Rain driving (on non rain tires) will separate the skilled from the unskilled. It will blatantly show a driver where his flaws are as the emphasis is less on speed but on car control, tenfold. If you think you are smooth try driving in the rain.
