    Question regarding lsd compatibility

My friend is parting his 79 733i (eurospec) and I'm wondering if the lsd would be compatible with my e30. I'm guessing it is, but would like to confirm it before I make him pull it off for me. Also if anyone knows the ratio that would be sweet too.

No. A 7 series (E23) uses a large case diff and that one is way before the suspension change. What you want is either a small case diff out of an E30 or a medium case diff out of a 5'er E28 ('82 - '88 ) or or 6'er E24 ('83 - '89 ) . Sorry.

Most e30's ran medium case diffs. Only the 316s, 318s and 320s ran small case diffs.

It will work if I remember correctly, just gotta have hte half shafts and case from the E30 to bolt it up right..
I've got an E28 diff in mine right now.

technically, no, i have a 91 318i with an m42 which had a small case. any 4cyl e30 that wasnt optioned to have limited slip had a small case.
