Only sort of. And if you're talking E85, that's true, if you have one of those dipshit flex-fuel vehicles. A purpose-built E85 engine (or a variable-compression engine, and yes, they have been developed) would make up for the lower BTU level by taking advantage of the much higher octane rating of the E85 to get more efficiently take advantage of the fuel injected on each cycle.
Talk to the Mythbusters team about that.
1) E85 is at least 110 octane (more like 114).
2) Keep the retarded political bullshit out of my thread. Study up on your fuels a bit from sources that aren't linked to big oil.
Also burning a few hundred btu's cooler meaning you have to burn more to get the same gas mileage.
If you want to bump up your octane rating a bit, drop a few moth balls in your tank.
110 octane fuels are leaded and pollutes the world, against every leftist out there.
