OP, glad to hear you made it out alright. I've often wondered how E28's hold up to a simple crash, they seem like very solid cars. When you say "bumper retrofit" do you mean that the car had euro bumpers? Gosh I hope not, that would suck exponentially worse.

    Nice wheels.

As far as the "bumper retrofit" goes, about 8 months ago I pulled into work a little fast and "nudged" a brick wall. The stock bumper / shock combo did well, but the aluminum bumper cracked. As I was considering some form of "diving board" removal, this allowed me to try something.

I removed the stock shocks and bumper, and fabricated a steel tube (1.5" Sch40) that matched the stock mounts. (It also followed the shape of the valence.) Got some thin gauge galv. steel and filled the holes in the valence, and bolted it on. After a little bodywork and some creative trim ideas, I was happy. It effectively cleaned up the front of the car substancially. Too bad I never thought about taking pic's of it...

Thank you. The '82 E28 came with stock size basketweaves. Much like the M5, but smaller. I considered pulling them for my '87, but I think I'll keep the TSW's where they are at...

Ah, they're TSW's? They almost look like BBS RA's.

        They look good, nonetheless.

I'm afraid I misled you. I have the TSW's on my '87. The rims on the wrecked car are BMW stock, labled BBS-Mahle.

People with insurance don't cause wrecks, just people without. After all, they're dumb enough to drive without insurance, aren't they?
