    M30 ????

Ive been pondering to turbo an m20 325i engine. And just recently the m30. My question for an m30 does that come out of the e34? Does it bolt up to an m20 tranny? I don’t know jack about an m30 and ive searched and cant find anything that helps. What I have in mind is turboing it so thanks?

this local guy has a close to stock m30 in his 87 325is. He only has shavd the head to up the compression. that and a 8 lbs flywheel form the s38 m5 and that car is very fast.

The real benefit of the M30 comes with boost. It responds very well to boost.

3.5 liters with a nice large turbo would be killer, the stock compression was not all that high so you could run factory intenals I suppose

EDIT: the odler engines have an 8:1 compression!

You can get ridiculous power out of a turbo M20B25, so why chose a M30 engine when it inherently brings a lot of work to fit the E30 chassis?
No, the M20 tranny won't fit, follow the link that Bokes posted just earlier: http://www.e30.de/335e.htm

Because you can get 400+ rwhp out of a turbo M30.

Yes... but it sure won't last as long as an M30 doing it!!

It takes alot more effort to get 600rwhp out of an M20 than it does an M30.
