Alpina e30 cabrio at Watkins Glen? Real?

Was there a couple weeks ago for the vintage races. Saw this about 100 yards from my campsite, right by the toe of the boot. Anyone here? Is it real?

I'm assuming it's not real as it is missing a few things (spoiler, exterior stripe, etc) but it did have an alpine steering wheel and shift knob. No cool alpina vent gauges though

Good grief, I forgot how exaggerated those front spoilers were, it looks like it is straight off of a 3.0 CSL.

I'd say it's the genuine article, although I haven't seen an Alpina car with tan interior before.

So they debadge the trunk, but put a badge on the grill?

Probably fake, but still hot as hell. I love that color... is that delphin?

I cant get use to that air dam. It kinda looks like the front of an old steam engine. Other than that, yes it rocks!!!

I could totally get down with that front air dam. One of the euro guys (mikedler maybe?) had it on their "winter" e30 and I thought it was so hot. I believe it was a red e30

Could be lots of reasons for the trunk de-badge. The lack of gauges in the dash vent is the better indicator that it's not the real thing.

Lots of Alpinas lacked the stripes and spoilers. The only way to be absolutely sure is to check the VIN - if the car is post '83/'84 it will have an Alpina VIN.

Here are pics of a confirmed real one.

Uhhh. My tendency leans towards the fact that its real. First, its Diamond Black. Second, the exhaust looks to be correct for an Alpina car. Third, the stripes were always an option with Alpina, you could choose many configurations with your order.

Wasn't the vent gauge an option on the Alpina cars?

what is the definition of a "real" alpina anyway?

I would vote that it is no "REAL" badged /vin nr. car from Alpina though.
you could have Aplina do any thing you wanted to your car, and in a million different ways.
you can still order the orig. Alpina exhaust as well as the wheels and the front Valance.- brakes and the motor "kits" are also still avail.
it has alot od "odd" things for a "euro car"-- the 3rd brake light would never be on a euro car, as well as the smileys dont match the year of the car.- if it was an 88 chrome bumper car it would have non-smiley elips in it-- yeah anyone could add or change them.

this is the same valance that I had on 3 different cars. 80's coolness to the extreme!
