Looks like e30 ownership is barely within your grasps (no offence), I'd leave the e34 for later on.. especially with the rediculous cost of gas.

Being galvanized, E34's don't typically rust, so if this has any I imagine it my just be surface rust. That said, you could still find nicer cars for $2k, E28 or E34.

      Pass.

How are the electronics? If anything doesn't work right, stay away from it. These cars have a lot of "black boxes" and are fairly complex, especially compared to an e30. If everything works, though, I'd be pretty tempted. Just make sure you have enough money to fix all of the things that will go wrong.

In terms of electronics, they aren't much worse than a late model, loaded E30. Common electronic faults are usually window regulators, power seat cables, maybe the odd light control module, but that's about it. Seat cable are easy to get to, a LKM won't run you very much at all (buying it used of course,) and window regulators could easily be sorced at a local Pull-A-Part.

I would look for a E34 with a M50. I have a e32 with a m30 and it get HORRIBLE MPG (16mixed driving) . The M50 is a much more efficent motor and is great in a E34 for a daily driver. I would stick to 93-95 when looking for an e34 the interiors are nicer and the 95's look better overall.

i need to fix the door locks, needs some trims, and th interior needs an attention... the engine is bulletproof.. btw the only rust is on the trunk lid.

Too much money, but 535 5 speeds are getting hard to find.

You will need a lot more money to get 200 HP. Even an E36 M3 only has like 210 to the wheels.

What in the hell are you talking about? "Family bullshit"? If you can't keep up with a Cavalier, then you can't drive. Do you really need 200 rwhp? Can you handle the stock power that your current E30 makes as is? If you are looking for some 200+ rwhp wonderwagon, then why not look towards an E36 M3. E34's are not ideal candidates for a car that feels fast.

                            DO IT!

How big is your family for every 180 pounds that like 10 HP. I dont put more than 1 person in my car because then it becomes a slug and then scrapes trying to get into parking lots.
