    Info on EMS

Im looking for where I can find some information on installing engine management systems.
Doesnt have to be e30 specific info.

Im looking to get my 318 running on some kind of stand alone?

Where did you guys learn this stuff?

How do you want the ecu to know when and how to fire injectors and spark?
I recommend using throttle position, crank reference, manifold pressure, intake air temp, and Oxygen sensor control.... with coolant temp, and battery voltage also playing a part in fuel trim. I have installed a number of EMS'.... Chrome, Hondata, Apexi PFC, Megasquirt, and Patatron Megasquirt.... The system I have been installing recently and had much success with is Gotech... it is a south african company that first opened up in 1998.

The gotech pro MFI with control 4 ignition coils and 2 injector banks... or you could set it up for 2 coil, 2 injector banks and micro fueler for an extra set of staged injectors.... if you have any specific questions about different systems feel free to ask and I will do my best to respond

I like this unit. Ive seen it installed in e30 M3s.
Seems to have all the things i'd want.

But how hard would that be to install?

I just read 20 pages of info and Megasquirt FAQ off there site.
The total DIY part about it scares me a bit, but its well documented and seems relatively simple.

That link for E30Tech had lots of good info. Ive got an m42 so a few things are different.
Cant beat the price on MS.
I priced it all out, $650 for everything you need!!!

Honestly I think this will end up being the system i'll go with.

          Thanks for the info
