    This a moon roof?

Went to the junkyard today and saw a 318iS that was severly rotted.
And I noticed the roof didn't look the same as a normal E30.

Is this a rare moon roof? The button inside was different also, it only moved it up not back.

That doesn't look factory to me. I wouldn't trust it being OEM unless you really search it over.

Ya.... It looks to be aftermarket. I have one that looks really similar if not the same as that one. I love it!

A friend of mine, stegosaurus on this forum, has one that I'm pretty sure came stock on his 318is. Either way I haven't seen many of them.

wont work on cars with factory sunroofs... also they are VERY subpar for quality, and will devalue your car... not to mention giving your car a starting point for rust.

Joe, is that cause of the stock sunroof frame - That thing is quite thick and heavy.

I want one of these (but I'm crazy, and my car is too loud anyways)

Yeah... All of the aftermarket sunroofs that I have seen are designed to work on cars with sheetmetal roofs. Plus the E30 has an unusually large sunroof to begin with, and I think it could be difficult finding an aftermarket roof that is bigger than the factory opening.

What a waste of a rare shell. Not to many 318is made w/o factory sunroofs.

looks similar to a wabasco (sp?) sunroof. The wabasco are good quality and generally seen on older minis. I even think the new MINI had it as an option.

I have a glass sunroof as GnarMachine noted. I'm under the impression that it was added by the dealer when the car was ordered due to it not having a rubber seal. It also has the asc four seasons control panel to go along with it. Whether it's legit or not I'm not sure, but i like it a lot. It's much smoother looking than other glass e30 roofs I've seen, including this one in the thread. If anyone could set me straight on whether it's the real thing or not I know how to use a camera.

[edit] PS: where in MA did you come across an e30 at a junkyard? Where are you located?
