    prob after euro speedo instal

this weekend i FINALLY installed the Canadian (KM) speedo i have had for a year. everything works great....except. the KM per LT gauge (MPG on US clusters). on the US cluster it sweeps from right to left. on the Canadian (KM) it sweeps from left to right.

is there any way to make it sweep in the correct direction?
it functions properly, and sits in about the same spot where it did with the other speedo, it would just be nice to have it completely functioning correctly.

EDIT. duh i just read your whole post. thanks for the response

my roommate asked why i put it in my car. i told him it made it look like i was getting more gas when i was filling it up and to BS my way out of tickets. "i don't know how fast i was going, it is in KM"

no, it is more like this:
"didn't i pull you over for the same thing last week? you should get that figured out, try dick's speedo-tach"
          "yes sir! officer!"
get pulled a month later by the same officer........
"you again....still haven't figured that out yet huh?"
"no, haven't had a chance to go there yet."
"well, when you are passing all the other cars on the road you are probably speeding!" "here is your ticket, and slow it down!"

i have had KM speedo's in my bug, the Jetta, my 914-6, and now the 325i. they will usually let you off if you don't drive like an ass and are going under 20 over the limit.

                  *buy one
                  *remove steering wheel
                  * remove the clear plastic "lens" take red model paint pen and tape off the black part of the needles then paint the white part of the needles red, replace the "lens"
                  * remove the old one with out stripping the screws or breaking the tabs, unplug the connectors (they are colour coded) plug them into the new speedo
*turn the key on to see if everything works before you reinstall it
                  *reinstall the speedo
                  *reinstall the steering wheel
                  *admire your work
*go drive in traffic for a while so you can gauge how many KM's = MPH to try to keep out of trouble

i would call that a plug and play

At least teach yourself some basic metric to standard conversions. 100kph is 62mph, for example.

that is assuming that everyone can do math on the fly without crashing into another car.

when i first put the KM speedo in my bug (i was eighteen) i used to keep a cheater card in the vent with the equivalent MPH to KM, i felt too stupid about it so i just remembered the conversions instead

do they really have a km/liters= special dash for canada????
I would love to see a pic of that.
the reg. euro clusters are liters per 100 km.
left to right is the correct direction on a german cluster.

My e30 320i is from Japan and has a km/L. I'm not sure if it was a Japan specific thing or not

i don't think mine is anything special since it was explained to me, by a Canadian. i was confused because the numbering went from left to right, but the needle swung from right to left, leading me to believe that the Canadian/Euro clusters had needles that swung the other direction.
