Km reading?

Hey guys. My cluster on the 323i has a problem, the odometer reading does not work (not ticking over the km's)? What would be the problem? does anyone have a pic of the gearing?

the gears are prob shot. theres a web site that has replacements. but i dont think i have it but im sure some one will have it one here
