Do I need a new starter?

Once in a while, about once in every 40-50 times of starting my car. My starter siezes and I have to hit it with a hammer to have it unsieze then start the car? This means I need a new one or have it rebuilt right?

      Just get a bigger hammer

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

IS there aDIY anywhere. Or is it not even that hard to do a started or solenoid replacement?

I carried a wood dowel in my e21 for a a year cause of a bad starter. After a year, it had fixed itself! LOL. I was 17, I think I was quoted $300 for a new starter - so you can imagine.
