Check Engine Light. Is it Gas?

My car finally ran out of gas for the fist time today about a mile from my place.

My question is, about 4 secs before it finally stopped, the Check Engine Light came on. I managed to put just enough gas to get me home and on the way back, the light still remained on.

My question is, Did my Check Engine light come on because of the no gas or is may this be one of the multitude of problems in the car that needs fixing.

It did idle for about the first 3 secs after putting the gas but ran as usual all the way back home.

P.S. This is the first time the light has ever come on whilst driving for me.

Be sure to bleed all the fluids from your lines before you fill up again Jaygo. It could be devistating otherwise. Unless you want to buy a new Computer and injectors.

yeah if the car runs lean or rich for more than ten seconds the check engine light usually comes on and you get the 1222 fault code, what fault code do you have?

nah, gasoline-injected systems are self-bleeding. How could it hurt the injectors or computer?
