    Taurus Trans Shift Cable

Before you ask... NO IT IS NOT MINE!

My sister-in-laws 96 Ford Taurus will physicly not shift. The shift cable is locked up, I disconnected it at the tranny (which moves free) and at the lever (also free)... anyway...

...OK, long story short, where is a cheap place online to buy Ford parts? Like a Pelican Parts for Fords haha?

OK... get this... I checked Rock Auto and the only listed trans cable is a "detent" cable, not a shift cable. But I know that the Duratech/AX4 drivetrain uses a vaccum-operated detent system. What gives? So maybe its the right part and maybe not...

Nope, I checked! Well, I checked at Adavance Auto (I work there!). I checked AZ online, no can do. We (AAP) doen't even have a listing for the part! The local Ford stealership has it, but hey want $147 for a four-foot cable... screw that!

And yea, it is kinda funny about Patrick. After I told him that James Crivellone gave me his ph#, he sounded relly suprised when I asked for a Ford part.

haha nice. I call so often the girls that punch in the credit card info know me already.

Christina calls me back every now and then to check ship to address.

I guess you can TRY the Ford Dealer? How expensive can a Ford part be?

get part number from Ford, cross reference it at work and at autozone, also check usual suspects like NAPA and Carquest.

If nothing turns up, it's junk yard time.

Did that too! I have the part number written down at work, otherwise I'd post it!

                          And screw the junk yard:
                          1) I'm not doing this job twice (i'm getting paid in food/beer, not $$$)
                          2) what's the odds that the junk yard part is just as bad? 50/50 I say...

                              Is this it?
