Looking for Junkyard,PickNPull etc, in PA/NJ/DE/NY/VA/NC/SC/MD

Well that hits just about every state I'l be in in the next two weeks.

I need a couple of cheap little pieces for my two cars, but would also like to stumble upon some things that I don't need but could use one day or just grab if its a good deal.

So I'm looking for a Pick N Pull type place that I could walk around in and grab things that I like/want/need/look shinny and pretty.

Anyone know of any in the SE PA/ S Jersey area? THe other option is anywhere near 95 or within a reasonable distance that I could stop off at next week. So near Baltimore, DC, Richmond, etc.

Things I'm looking for; wheels, steering wheels, interior/exterior trim pieces, e30 elip headlights, e30 hood, antennae.

Things I'd buy if I were lucky enough to find them, e30/e28 "iS" front and rear spoilers, e28 sport seats, euro bumpers, e28/e30 fenders/doors in good condition, "iS" spoiler foglights for both e28/e30 and any other similar treasures. Not looking to raid the yards to sell stuff online, more interested in pieces that would go to good use on either my 325i or my 535iS.

So anyone have a good spot with e28s/e30s? I know this is common in CA, and I think there is one off of PA Turnpike near King of Prussia but I can't remember the location.

If you've got a real secret spot just PM me. Or do these types of place only exist in Cali and the South?

    Thanks,
    James

wtf m8? You are scouring the entire eastern United States for a couple of basic parts that are floating around on the FS portion of this very site? Post a WTB and get the parts that way, I have doubts that everyone is going to post up the inventory of their local PAP.

lol, that's what I was thinking too. It's enough that locals rape my supply, but having a person with a trailer to come get all the stuff that could no longer by localy would be really stupid.

What's in it for the rest of us? How will your visit help any of the locals out?

Eh, not so much "what's in it for me," I'll help out a fellow forum member in most cases. I'm just confused on why the guy is travelling through the eastern US just for a few parts easily found on here.

            My driveway!!!!

seriously i have an e12 in my driveway with 2 very good fenders and 4 very good door i am looking to get rid of, i believe they came off an e28 that the PO had as a parts car. hoods in great shape to! seriously tho PM me if you want to stop by i'm only 8 miles from the turnpike. I'll even let you pull the stuff off the car for the experience ;)

also there is a harry's u pull it off 663 which is directly off the northeast extention at the quaker town exit in PA. they have 4 e30's right now, with a good amount of stuff left in 2 of them. There also a few yards in conchy but last time i was there there was very few e30s and no e28s.

harry's in allentown usually has some good stuff, i got lucky there when i was doing my m30 swap and found an entire 535i 5 speed, came in the morning i got there! and thats not to far depending on where you are coming from.

Also there are a few local yards i would be glad to show you tell you how to get to that are near my house. They aren't the greatest but they have some stuff you might be interested in.

Well, to respond to a few of the points above:

Why scour the eastern US for these parts?
              - Well I'm already going to be driving up and down through all of those states, so I figured I check and see. I know if I limit it to just my area, I will have less responses, and I also know there isn't much in terms of pickN pull type operations near me.

Also, do you know how much it costs to ship a hood? A front airdam? Both?

I figured I would not only be able to get parts a bit cheaper overall, but also save on shipping costs. Like I said, I'm not tryin to raid every yard this side of te Mississippi in order to sell crap on here for a profit, I'm just looking for a few key parts to give me a project over the winter. A hood and a fender would be nice since I could practice painting on them.

And no I don't have a trailer lol.

Mostly I'm just jealous of these Cali folk who just drive to their local yard whenever they need something. I figured it would be nice to be able to simply walk around with my tool kit and grab things as I go. Think of it as being at a Walmart or Bestbuy. You can order all that crap off the internet, but people still go and wander around, grabbing little things as they see 'em.

And, if you want to keep these places secret, I understand, I don't want to raid anyone else's supply. The place I remember seeing had 25+ e28s,e30s, and e34s. If your place has two 325i that you use for all your parts, by all means, keep it to yourself ya know.
And Rick, I'l send you a PM, does harry's have decent prices?

Good point about shipping larger parts (e.g. hood, bumper, etc.) However steering wheels, trim pieces, headlights can all be found on here, boxed and shipped for relatively cheap. These Pick 'n Pull (Pull A Part, etc.) yards are hit or miss, I'd just as easily find some of those things on here and save some hassle of searching through these places for a couple of parts in good shape.

I do have one recommendation though. Strictly German in Braselton, Georgia. Do a quick Google search and give Bobby Thrash a call and ask him what cars he has in stock. That just may be the place where you remembered seeing all of those E30's and E34's.

Wait, doesn't the e12 have a hood like the 2002s, where it overlaps the fenders? I don't think there is anyway the fenders (front) from an e28 could fit on an e12? I don't think the doors would work either, I know they have different part Numbers as well.
If you look at yours and a pic of an e28 you'll see what I'm talking about with the hood/fender issue.

Hmm, the hood may still be worth using to practice painting on tho...

Sorry, the place I was talking about was some where off of the PA Turnpike, saw it when I was on my way home from the last US grand Prix in Indy.

Sadly I won't be making it into GA. I've always wanted to go (don't know why), but I only ever get to see the airport in Atlanta, lol.

And I suppose your right, but maybe its just the idea of finding that rare part for a good price that makes me want to look on my own. My new mech had an e30 with 16in BBS RS on it, and the car sat there for 4 years. On here, those wheels would be $1000-$2000 depending upon condition. To him, they would be gone for $200 since the owner never picked up the car/paid the bill. See what I'm saying? Its the thrill of the hunt, and it would be nice to have a break from driving a 12hr trip.

I had a feeling that was you. I saw Warrington and the car in your sig and was thinking, but couldn't remember your name. Hope all is well with the car now. Did Adam ever get that spoiler on? Did you guys lose any of the nuts in the e30 trunk yet? Its easy if your not paying attention when you test fit, etc.

I found the website for Harrys and it looks like exactly what I'm talking about. Should be fun to go up and see what they have. Have you been recently? Any good stuff? Hell, if y'all wanna take a road trip I've got a mini van with a ton of space inside (if theres only room for 2 or 3 people), and I do have access to a trailer, but don't know what anyone would need it for (Maybe I'l grab a $69 m30 next week lol).

Lemme check, going down 95 to SC for a Surf Kayak Competition.

I think its in Charleston, maybe Folly Beach near some pier? But I'm leaving Thurs and getting there Fri night so I have time to kill, as it should only be 10-11 hrs driving.
