Sell it to someone who will fix it!

Sell it to someone who will fix it! Please it is not that bad!
I am fixing mine, I bought a parts car and am rebuilding! I hit a Gaurd rail, it went over my bumper and ripped it off as I bounced back from the impact.

Here is how mine looks, and I am still driving it daily. But no insurance company involved, I carry just Liability and am responsible for my own car. They would never give me back what I would pay a year in full coverage premiums anyway!

    Thanks
    Dennis

Not always. Search for how to keep clean title. I'm too lazy to explain again. Does it say salvage or junk? Their is a huge difference. I believe once its issued a "junk" it becomes a parts or track car. But usually that only happens with extreme damage and they do that for safety reasons. I know gary needs a m42.

its easy to re-register a salvage car. fix it, make sure all lights work, make sure brakes are all good, and have it inspected. if it passes you take the cert to the dmv and get a new title.

EDIT: also, if its not fully in your name, all anyone would need is the title from sumyounguy, and a mill of sale to you. as long as there arent any gaps in the paperwork its pretty straight forward.

I believe the car is junked. When I talked with the woman at the DMV, I was informed that the car could be re-registered with new plates if it passed an inspection. The car currently has no plates. I didn't get a salvage title because the car would have needed to pass smog.

It needs to pass smog to be registered, not titled. The inspection she is referring to is a brake and light inspection. Sounds like you had a crappy adjuster. Unfortunately its common because there is such a high turnover rate. Basically your adjuster sends a notice of salvage retention to the DMV. There is a pamphlets you can pick up at the DMV that outlines what you need to do.

I will fly out to Cali and slap you if you don't get it back. I'm a student too so I know time management sucks but this is totally fixable. I got reared by a mini and it totaled out my old 318. It pushed in the frame and all. I bought it back took the $1900 handed it to a friend of mine and he fixed it for $900 with the frame pulled. Then I was left with a grand to play with.

This is way easier. You need to go to the yard get a new hood, headlights and possibly radiator. Then take a hammer to it and make it work.

Sorry, but what exactly can I do at this point? Do i need to do anything before selling the car or can it be dealt with just as easily by the next owner?

you can just sell it with a bill of sale.

If i was in cali, FYI, I would totally buy that car off you. Crap, I could fix most of it myself, and there is a '91 alpineweiss car in a yard here with no front end damage....

You probably have a DMV hold. Who ever gets it from you is going to have to get it fixed, get it to pass smog, and get the brake and light cert before they can finish any paperwork. I say you just sign it over to me.
