    why a E30

Well i have been lurking in here for some time now. I can tell that many of you really love the E30. I must say that mine is a much better car than I thought it would be. I have 250,000 miles and it still runs great. It has good power and is a blast on windy roads. I am glad I got it.

I have to say that when I got it I intended on only keeping it for a year or two until I could afford a nicer/newer car. The price was right but I didn't know much about them. Now that I have it I just might keep it for a while longer.

So tell me why a E30, and what should/could/would I do with mine?

    Thanks very much folks.

Because I have always loved boxy sedans.

And 510s don't have near the aftermarket and are much harder to find in decent condition.

To me, the e30, specifically M3, is the epitome of what a german sports car should look like. I love the boxy shape and hard lines of the M3's...

As for all the other body styles, as close to perfect as possible.

The harder you drive it, the better it handles. At the limit you find the true nature of the balance and poise the german engineers built into it.

Since you like those mountain roads so much, join the NASA region near you and attend a driving event.

I say you should sell your car because if you were really into it you'd want to search and dream about all the different things you can do to it. Look around at people cars and see if you get addicted. I did.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

I don't want to sell it. I like it. right now it is my daily driver. 23 mpg and I drive it pretty hard. fix this and that to keep it running good. I do have a project car that I need to finish before I think about stripping this down and modding it out. I will say I have seen some very very nice cars on this site so I am sure I could easily get hooked. I would like to know what the 'must do' mods are if there are any. It seems that list is kind of vauge.

I would like to hear more from you folks.
            Thanks.

There are no must do mods, modding is a personal choice. Take a look at what is out there, and pick what you want...

I got an E30 because I couldn't afford an E36 or the E28 I wanted. Now I don't want to get rid of mine either. I was in the exact same position in HS. They grow on you.

I've had a couple can't get enough of em. They really built a great car back in the 80's.

                      ...well kind of.

In all seriousness though i remember looking at a few other things, and couldnt be happier with an e30.

Negatron my good sir. The ones that put out don't wear any. :pimp:

But seriously, an E36 is around the same price or less. I am searching all over for an E30, and to find one in good condition is proving to be very, very difficult.

The E36 is pricier to maintain, has more common faults, probably smells like a box of crayons, and won't hold up like a comparable E30.
