    Precision Motion. or TNG?

Anyone ever heard of this company?

They specialize in Porsche's but recently added on BMW's.

Went there today and they told me to replace timing belt, water pump and gasket would be $500. ($100 an hour)

What does TNG charge an hour for labor if you bring your own parts.

As said, Timing Belt, Water Pump and Gasket, how much would that be from TNG?

P.S. Whilst we are at it, how long can you use your Timing Belt before you really really have to replace it. Not the 6 month thing, I mean riding that belt till the end, just before it snaps. Then replace it, so how much longer do I have with my belt. Haven't replaced it since February, when I bought the car. PO said he did so not sure how long it was riding before I bought it.

Who said 6 months??? Timing belts are 50k miles, and it varies how long it will last after that. Could last you 200k, but you don't want it snapping unless you want a new engine.

Ohh Shizzle. Thanks. I've gone somewhere around 8000 miles.

Sweet. I was so worried about that. So does that equate to no new Water Pump until Timing Belt Change?

Unless it's bad. IIRC the water pump is a slightly longer interval, but it's a do it while you're in there kind of thing.

When you buy an e30, unless you have all documents of service, the very first maintenance thing you do, before changing your oil. YOU REPLACE YOUR TIMING BELT.

50k miles like was stated, and must be replaced unless you have another engine laying around.

good idea to replace both at the same time. If you are worried about cost, do the work yourself, it's not such a bad job. On the other hand the owner of this site is closely associated with (works for?) tng... seems to be a legit place for e30s.

When I did buy the vehicle, the owner did assure me that the Timing Belt had just been replaced.

He brought the car back after a 2 year sit.

3 years, not 2. You're fine for now, but if you're having water pump issues you should do them all (timing belt, tensioner, water pump) all at once.

Did you ever fix the wheel bearing?

Don't make a habit of bringing your own parts to a shop... unless you like voiding any warranty or guarantee. :)

Timing belt every 60k is fine.

No not yet. Right now trying to find new seats.

The passenger side has started tearing pretty badly.

                    Ohh and the brakes too.

Ohh ya and I want to do fluid flush.

What are the ones recommended. 200k miles + on car.

I want to replace all the fluids.

Timing belt is easy on an 87 and older. Slightly harder on an 88+, and sucks balls on an automatic. Just my experience.

At 200k, it's pretty safe to say everything could use replacement if it hasn't been already.

Only belts I've done are late models, they're pretty easy compared to almost any other modern car, however that flip forward hood is so annoying to work with.

What's wrong with the seats that were in it? Put covers on them and spend your money where it matters. You need to get that wheel bearing fixed before you lose (another) wheel driving down the road. The brakes were brand new when you got them, so unless you drive with one foot on the brake all the time I have no idea how you could have gone through a set of pads already.
