    It has to do with the C pillar being a door jamb and the B pillar being centered between A and C pillars.

      I, too, have heard about the four-door rigidity rumor. I wonder if tourings are a bit more rigid than four-door's.

          With tourings you usually run into the problem of the back of the vehicle is basically just a big hole. Perhaps with proper bracing like strut towers and cross bracing?
