    84 318 parts

Hey guys I have a chance to get a 84 318i for pretty cheap and was wondering how many of the parts are interchangable to other later models e30 cars. We have several e30s in the family and could use a number alot of parts. what parts interior/exterior would be able to or wouldnt be able to be used on 88-91 models?
thanks in advance for any help

Well the rears are different, i think you could use the fenders but i'm not sure theyre identical... most stuff could be swapped but might not match i guess is the point

Hood, fenders (early vs late have very small difference that you won't see once installed), trunk, sunroof, dash, front/rear consoles, seats, carpet, door panels (if you don't mind top having chrome strip), door cards, real panels(same as door panels), headlights, grill. doors (if you want manual glass), glovebox, ash trays.

trunk carpet might be different, front valance is different, front struts are smaller, rear trailing arms have drums. front / rear subframes are the same. diff/tranny/driveshaft different, front calipers/carriers different.

Parts that differ from '84 318i to late model E30:

        Taillamps
        Bumpers (front/rear)
        Trim pieces on bumpers
Various drivetrain parts that are M10-specific (tranny, differential, etc.)
        Instrument cluster
        Knee bolster
        Steering wheel
        Carpet (IIRC)
Brakes (rear, unless US 318i's had rear discs)

Those are just a few of the main things though, I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Knee bolster is the same as late Non Air Bag e30s.

Eh, yeah, but aren't all (or the majority of) late model cars airbag cars as well?

I might be wrong, but I thought that airbags were sort of a standard thing 88+.

I think airbags showed up more in 90

Thats why people love the 89 so much

Or at least thats what i thought
