    Suspension Technical question.

I have billy sports on H&R Race springs just installed and there is play at the top of the shock between the camber plate and the shock nut when I push on the car towards the floor. Basically I was thinking... Is the nut not down enough, or do I need a shorter bilstein shock (do they even make another size?). Please help. I hate the clunking of this damn car while driving. Thats why I am not driving it.

Sounds like you dont have the shock centered in the mount. If so its a PITA while on the car, usually requires removal and reassembly.

It seems like the shock is in the mount. I think reassembly is the slution though. However, there arent two different bilstein shock lengths though right?

As long as its for an e30, the overall length should be the same, but I doubt that's the problem.

Use a rattle gun (impact wrench) to tighten whilst you bounce up and down on the car.

the shock isnt lined up with the bearing and perch properly. You might luck out and get it lined back up, but thats a long shot in the dark. remove, look at how snug it all fits without the spring, then reassemble.

had the same problem awhile ago, it was a washer ( bottom/below the top cap) left out.
Put it back in place, fixed.

I think e30 groupie is in the right path. I think the problem is the camber plates that I have plus the perch. I will start all over on installation once my day off is granted. Then my ground control adjustables will go in! :D

my friend saw this thread today, with same problem. We had to use an impact gun to tighten down the bolt in the shock tower. Thats your problem.

You do have plates made for bilsteins, right? The tops of konis differ slightly from the bilsteins.
