Must buy tools and stuff for owning an E30

Hopefully soon I will have a nice E30 and would like to learn how to do stuff when it needs to be done. So, I want to put together a list of things I should buy.
So start it off for me.

haynes manual is always good for starting out with basic stuff.... and of course a quality set of metric tools.

The problem I found when looking for a Bentley manual was that I couldn't find one for a 92' 318iC

Yea the Bentley doesn't have info on M42 cars. However, the Bentley is a much better manual according to everyone.

Bentley is far better than Haynes. However, there is one item in Haynes you won't find in Bentley, specifically engine rebuilding details, which a book really isn't adequate for anyway.

In my experience however, having a McHenry down the street is far better than any printed material :P

The avg. good quality tool set has all you need. Only things which I have had to go get are adjustable monkey wrench, 22mm stubby for subframe nuts when doing c.arms and extensions for tranny and other misc. work..nor forgetting torque wrench and a puller for wheel bearings. Floor jack and jack stands help a ton too.

good call on the Jacks. Definately at the very least 4 quality jack stands. Safety first, dont end up like homeboy on E3S and drop a car on your head cause you were lazy....

                          -5mm hex socket
                          -6mm wrench
                          -8mm wrench and socket
                          -10mm wrench and socket
                          -13mm wrench and socket
                          -17mm wrench and socket
                          -19mm wrench and socket
                          -22mm wrench and socket
-Lots of extensions and ratchets. It also doesn't help to have two of each wrench to break things loose.
-Pencil magnet (to retrieve all the nuts/bolts/washers that you drop)
                          -Pry bar and/or breaker bar
-Flashlight (a good one, don't buy that crap that they sell at the drugstore)
                          -Needle nosed pliers
                          -Screwdrivers

bah, those are only for the wrechers.

The average Joe only really needs an internet connection and a 4" long fused Jumper wire.

The wrencher needs a full boat of metric tools and the Bentley and Haynes. The Haynes makes a good spacer if your wooden blocks arent high enough to support the subframe. :)

Seriously the 4" fused jumper wire is hella handy.
                            Im now E30less.

                              extra tools may needed:

spare bottlecap wheel, and a large hammer/pipe.....for beating the hell out of the wheel when you get frustrated doing a subframe swap.
