    pictures

    Hey folks,

Just a quick question. Is it uncommon or rude to request a picture of parts that you are potentially looking to purchase from someone here on the forum?

I purchase parts on other forums and almost always ask for a picture or two. Even on evilbay I won't bid on an item where the pictures are not right. I am looking for a few parts and asked for a picture or two and was told, colorfully, that I must be joking. I have never experienced that on this forum before. Have others experienced that?

I must say I am a little surprised.
    Thanks.

If people think it's rude to ask for pictures they've probably got something to hide.

qft, and 2nd. i usualy ask just to be sure what i'm getting matches what i have in the case of a replacment part, or that it is worth what i'm paying in terms of condition.

as a seller and a buyer I fully expect to send/recieve pics of the object(s) in question. As a seller I make damn sure I accurately represent my items and take detailed photo's, usually posting pics along with the sale prior to even thinking of asking for someone's money. It's what I would expect as a buyer, therefore it's what I provide as a seller. Don't expect anything less.

            Depends on what it is.

If it is an item where appearance or visible wear is important, then 100% you gotta see pics.

If it is something like door handle trim - and the seller tells you the color and that it is 100% intact and not broken, then do you really need a picture?

Also depends on who is selling it. If it is a person I know (for real, or by long reputation via the forum) I will be more lenient as well.

I just bought something from someone here without a pic and it was not exactly up to snuff - not crap, but much more worn than I wanted it. i privately told the seller, and he made things right. I'll buy from him again.

actually I have been surprised at the number of people here whom tell me "I don't own a digital camera but I will get pictures up later..." then pictures are never posted up. It has happened to me like 3 or 4 times with members trying to sell cars.

I think that may be one of the reasons you received the response that you did.

either that or the seller knows his product is crap. He might as well CL it.
