So I just replaced both front control arms because one of them was worn out, it was metal on metal for a few days. I still have a clunky sound and a vibration that matches it in the steering wheel upon braking or hitting a pot hole. I am thinking it is the struts, but I am not sure. I guess it could be wheel bearings but those were replaced last spring. It is only on the right side which is the same side the control arm went bad on. Any ideas? It sounds almost exactly the same as when the control arms was bad just not as drastic.

I had the same problem with my Mercedes and it was the wheel bearings.
As you can see with all of the posts, it can be anything that is attached to the wheel. Just make sure you take a look through everything thoroughly. It can be dangerous.'91 318iS
