So, I have been dealing with this seemingly minor issue for a while now, and I thought some of you might offer insight.
Sympotom 1:
When I start the car cold I usually turn the key to the "on" position and wait for a few seconds before starting it. Sometimes I tap the gas slightly, just before activating the starter to make sure that it fires up right away. If I don't go through this process, the car wont start right away and I usually have to try starting it twice.
Symptom 2:
After the engine is on, I usually wait until the temp gage is out of the "blue" before driving. If I am running late however, I sometimes give the car a little bit of gas. I do my best to stay below 2000 rpm. This is where the second symptom occurs. When I give it gas, the engine automatically jumps to 2 grand, and I have no control between 700 and 2000 rpm. When I release the throttle, the rpms fall to 1500 then stay there for a second before dropping to about 700. This is weird to me as the engine is recieving fuel that I am not sending intentionally.
Symptom 3:
If I am REALLY late, and I begin to drive the car before it is fully warmed up, the 3rd and most peculiar symptom occurs. As I approach the first or second stop light in my commute, I release the throttle and coast to a stop. The rpms will fall to about 2000 and stay there as I coast and until I come to a complete stop and the rear of the car falls due to the recompression of the rear suspension. The engine only returns to regular idle after the back of the car falls. wtf?
I'm thinking fuel pump.
