    Hi all, new to bmw...

Just picked up an '86 325e 5speed, with broken rear sub frame. I work in a shop so labor isn't the issue, money is, but stock is for suckas. I'd like to hear ideas on fixes, upgrades, weak points to look for, and any sound advice. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to r3v!

IMO, you should definetly do a few cheap cosmetic things.
-Either get smoked or clear side markers
    -Same for turning signals
    -Upgrade your front lip
-Window tint is always nice, but not toooo much =]
    -New rims are good haha
-Lots of others you can make

replace with another subframe and while you are there do the trailing arm and subframe bushings, and brake lines.

          Plastic bumpers. Expensive, that though.

Basically do things the car NEEDS first, instead of visual mods ands stuff. Plastic bumpers aren't expensive, you just will have to modify the rear one to fit your car as yours is pre 88.

timing belt, water pump, plugs, valve adjustment, CABs, tie rods, sway bar links, rebuild the shifter.........this is a great start to getting the car gathered up and running and driving well.

If the car has a broken subframe, then I would be willing to bet the car probably needs a lot of maintenance and other attention to make it completely roadworty first. Cosmetic modifications are the LAST thing you spend money on in a situation such as this.

Thanks all. The maintainence is a givin. After the repairs and shifter rebuild, I'm lookin to redo the head. (lose the weak valve springs, hotter 7 bearing cam) I guess I'm lookin for a good speed parts suplier, and how long should I plan for to remove the rear sub and arms in a bone yard? (hand tools only)
