BMWCCA road side assistance aka "Membership Plus"???

Last time I called AAA they had a silly "you must wait 6 months before using the road side assistance program" clause. Meaning, you can sign up with AAA road side assistance, but you can't use it for a good while. I assume this is to prevent people from calling in only after their car is stuck and only paying the small monthly fee.

I noticed that BMWCCA is offering road side assistance with their "plus" membership.

If you wish to purchase one year of Membership Plus the cost is $58.00 and that is in addition to your $40.00 membership fee in BMW CCA for a total cost of $98.00.

Not bad considering you get 12 printed issues of the Roundel, access to track days and events, and free classified ads in the Roundel and 24 hours road assistance.

Anyone have this? I think it would be a great Christmas to get for $100!!!

I have roadside assistance through my normal car insurance (State Farm), it's less than $2 a month and has already saved me twice, over $200 in towing fees.

AAA doesn't own trucks. they contract out to local towing companies. All these road side assistance providers do. I'd assume it's the same level of service but I'd rather my $$ go to CCA. and the wait 6 mths is ridiculous, i don't think that's true in every AAA region. I remember coverage being applied even before i paid them in some cases (temp card). of course i did pay them and didn't stiff them after getting a free tow.

I just signed up for non-plus so I can get that magazine, but 24hr assistance sounds really nice for an extra $58

I found the details. Only a 25 mile tow in a 72 hour period, and only 5 times a year. Not that great- but I'd still rather pay BMWCCA than the ass clowns over at AAA.

1. 24-Hour Roadside Assistance: You must call 1-877-269-6558 for your 24-hour emergency roadside benefits. IMPORTANT: Please be with your vehicle when the service provider arrives, as they cannot service an unattended vehicle. NOTE: Only one (1) service per seventy- two hours and five (5) free services per year.
1. Towing – Provided for up to 25 miles at no charge to member. Additional mileage is the responsibility of the member and will negotiated prior to sending out service (extrication is excluded).
2. Emergency Road Service – Any available contracted road service that is needed to get your vehicle running (i.e. hose replacement or tightening of cables or belts etc.)
3. Essential Fluids or Supplies Delivery – Including gasoline, water, oil, or any supplies necessary to send a member’s car on its way (member responsible for actual cost of fluid or supplies requested).
4. Flat Tire Changes or Repairs – Includes changing a flat tire with your good spare or plugging a punctured tire.
5. Emergency Battery Service – Includes tightening or cleaning of cables, jumpstarts, minor adjustments to alternator etc.
6. Lockout Services – Lost keys, broken keys, or accidentally locked out of your vehicle, we will send a locksmith.

agree. one question i have is whether they have a "plus" option (or in this case plus+) where longer tows are covered.

For AAA the "AAA Classic" is $54 a year and only 5 miles. The "AAA Plus" is 100 miles, but it's $84 a year.

5 miles? WTF is that? I've been on roads that didn't have a gas station for at least 30 miles.

AAA has saved my ass at least 3 times, once was 2 days ago, my ecu went out, car wouldn't run at all, so they towed it to a shop for me.

My roadside assitance through SF is around $20 a year, I only get 5 tows a year, but unlimited mileage/cost.

AAA is now offering upto 200 miles of tow for the AAA Plus members, it's an upgrade from the 100 mile option.
