Mine had a getrag 260 with a 3.46:1 open diff.

I had the had gasket replaced, got the head cleaned up while it was all apart, once it went back on the bottom end couldn't handle it and the rings let go, started using oil like it was gas!! So out she came!!! now the poor little E30 has twice as much power at the wheels as the old M20 had at the crank, when it was new!!

I have a euro 323.. although motor been ditched for a 325 motor (did the L-jet to Motronic conversion).. actually using E30-323ti's old head. The 323 had higher compression and chucked on a 325 block gives it shit loads more torque.

Mine came with a 3:73 open diff and Getrag 260 - VDO dash in mph. Was an english car.

        Thanks for all the replys.

Me and Brew checked out the car Sunday afternoon. Definitely wasn't what I was expecting...
It was a really old guy selling it that didn't really know as many specifics as I had thought based on my phone conversations with him. He advertised it as "metallic grey", and also said so on the phone. It was friggin' BRONZIT! Yuck!
Despite the car being in Arizona during the winter and in Massachusetts for non-snowy parts of the year, it had a few little rust spots - something I'm trying to avoid in my next E30.
It had pretty much ZERO options. No OBC of any kind, and not even the classy euro dial clock. It was the shitty 2 button digital clock. Crank windows, crank sunroof (which I wouldn't have minded), but not central locking. Gauges were in MPH, but had litres on the fuel and economy gauges.
The engine ran only OK. It had 175,xxx miles and the owner told me at around 100K miles it overheated and seized. Then was fully rebuilt by the 1 mechanic he only brought the car too. It must have had a cracked exhaust manifold, because it sounded like a diesel. Very weak until after 3500rpm. Even at higher revs it didn't pull all that hard.
And here's the shittiest part: No dogleg tranny. Just the plain old G260. I had asked the guy twice in previous phone calls about the transmission, and after describing the dogleg to him he assured me that's what it was. Dammit!!!
He was a nice guy and didn't seem like he was trying to falsely advertize anything. He just didn't know a whole lot about the car.
Thanks for all the help anyways guys. Am I the only one who gets huge suprises every time I go to check out a car for sale?

The crank in the 323i is longer then in a 325i
          by 1.5mm i think

it make max power at 6000 vs. 5800
and when running fine makes better sounds then a 325i
