    e23 733i?

There si one for sale locally for $800 with no exterior rust and an essentially clean underside, bone stock, dark metallic red. Has a new tranny and around 180000 miles on it. No major dents, and the car was kept in a garage most of its life. It does have a crappy tint job, but that is easy to fix.

I'm kind of curious how worthwhile this sounds to you guys. To me it seems like a good deal, but I don't know much about the e23. It would probably end up with a manual tranny, but be more or less stock as a daily driver. Opinions?

Please check the seller's invoices on the HVAC as this is inherently troublesome with the e23 and also very expensive to repair. I don't care if it works now, just make sure it has had attention as a broken HVAC unit on an e23 will cost you more to fix than the car is worth! On the upside, these are great cars to drive and I have had at least 10 of them, both euro and US spec models. Five of them have been manual shift cars and are a ton of fun to drive.

Make sure to have a ton of invoices to make sure that the car was well taken cared of. Parts for these arent easily found like the E30s. You dont see much of these at the junk yards anymore either.

Yeah, I noticed the dearth of parts online for these cars. Any idea what specifically breaks in the HVAC system?

I'm going to talk to the owner tomorrow and see what he has to say.

theyre ugly as hell in US trim.

i owned 2 of them, a 733 and 745. Both grey market (obviously), but this was back before the innernet was as big as it is now. So if you needed something you paid out the ass for it.

But trim and such are becoming a real nuisance to get for them, there really arent many left. But for the price you really cant go wrong.

yeah, that's why I am interested. Normally I would only go for an e28 or e24 for a big car, but this one seems pretty complete.
