    e36 ///M3 Pricing

so everybody says that for 15k you can get a good deal on an e36 m3 with good miles and good body, for some reason i can't seem to find these deals that people talk about. Can you guys point me where to look for? i've tried Autotrader and Roachfly and i don't see those deals.
I'm in San Diego and im willing to travel some 200 miles to get the right car 8)

This might be a better question to post on places that deal with more E36s. Here they run about that tho...

Autotrader and Roadfly advertisers are crackheads. The only group worse are CCA ads, most people think thier E36 is rare. Try and find someone who actaully reads the Blue Book.
    Im now E30less.

well, i found 2 that have 80k miles and are asking around 13-15k, but i bet that when im going to ask for an advice on the car, someone is going to come and say that im paying to much for it.

        Point me to the deals

        btw
which site would be the best for e36 m3's?

            $9-$15k for a decent E36 M3 is really a helluva deal.

Go for a 96+ so you get the 3.2 engine. I'd rather buy the $1200-$1500 OBDI conversion kit then deal with brining a 3.0 up to 3.2.

When you consider how leathal an E36 M3 with suspension upgrade and OBD1 3.2 is, it makes me wonder why I'm still messing with my e30.

those < 15K deals only happen on high mileage cars. Check out the 95 M3's, those can be had for pretty inexpensive.

Autotrader will be your best bet. Just be patient and keep searching.

Saul found his on bimmerforums.com, and it was in the classifieds for a couple weeks, and it's a salvage title.

Because an E30 can be made just as lethal for less. I used to think the trailing arms were a hinderance until I got urethane mounts.

Around here I have seen them go for around 12k. I would go earlier if you want to save cash. I wouldnt get one before 10/95 because of valve retainer issues and all the S52s have been known to have some bearing issues. Even if you ended up getting one before 10/95 the valve retainers are something you can change yourself with the right tool.

I dunno what your intention is with the car though, Eric is right about the 3.2 being the easiest to get power out of just by changing back to OBD1 intake. If you plan on balls out modding the car its definately something to consider because except for tapping a sensor its all pretty mcuh DIY.

You have to remember that asking prices are just that.... asking prices.

                  I sold my girlfriend's 95 M3 about 18 months ago with 90k miles on it for $11.5k.

There are good deals that pop up on bimmerforums and I see E36 M3's go super cheap on ebay.

3.0 vs 3.2 is a non-issue IMO. The difference in speed is very slight. Of course, more displacment is nice if you are fully building the motor.

It seems to me that there are a lot more 17k and under m3's down here in the south...I think it would be worth it to buy a 95-96 m3 with ~100k for 15 or under, I would just rebuild it with the money that you save

not necessarily. A buddy just got a 95 M3 with 85k on it, great mechanical condition, just needed some detailing, for $11k

Errrrg. Incorrect. Its a perfectly clean title...2 owners, the motor pulls very hard. Apex did a full leak down test and it shows 4% on all cylinders, except for #4 which was 8%, but that doenst matter because its not on the #6 cylinder. The motor pulls like it has 60k miles on it! Hell everyone at Apex Motorsports wanted the car! Everything is ok, it has the original clutch (believe it or not), all it needs is some new spark plugs, an o2 sensor, some new rear trailing arm bushings, and a good suspension upgrade to perform at its highest mechanical standards. 95's are cheap, just make sure you get a post march 95 production to bypass the retainer issue.

True, not only that but 95's are easier to modify since they are OBDI...The biggest problem out of all is the retainer issue on the earlier 95's, as I mentioned above
