I am thinking of swapping my instrument cluster in with a euro one. What do you guys think. Other than the obvious implications of having Km/h which i am not worried about. Is there anything i don't know about that i should know about?
European Instrument Cluster Swap?

Just make sure you swap the coding plug over (keep the one from your US cluster). Sometimes that can make a difference if the car it came from had a different engine than yours.
I put a European cluster in my car because my US odometer and maybe the tach were dead and I had a Euro cluster as a spare/tester.Comment

WTF, what is the point in 99% of the shit we do to these cars? What is the point of sliding around a corner slideways, or hauling ass in a a straight line or ripping through corners as quickly as you can, especially when it is the same fucking corners?
One word: Fun.
Perhaps, to this guy, a "Uro" cluster is "fun".
So, anyone have any useful input here?
I sure don't.

i didn't even switch out the coding plug and mine works just fine.
the speedo came from a canadian 325I and mine is a US 325i
just remember to try to drive with the flow of traffic for a while until you get used to the conversion (MPH to KPH)seien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen

Yea i am interested in this too. Because say my car has 123,456 miles on it. if i put my odometer from my US cluster into my Euro cluster... won't it just start recording kilometers per hour?
I guess my question is, Is it possible to swap in a euro tach, take apart the odometer and set it to the exact amount of miles your car has on it so it matches your total kilometers to the old total miles? Is this legal? Will the odometer start reading kilometers per hour or miles per hour? its sort of a confusin subjectComment

you are over thinking this!
if you get pulled and they give you shit it is just a fix it ticket, play dumb with the cop tell him it cam that way and tell him you get it fixed. chances are that he will let you of and tell you to get it handled.
i have put KM speedos in EVERY car i have ever had. i am just silly that way (and i have only really ever driven European cars).
i have used it as an excuse when i get pulled over for speeding.
"really officer, i was going that fast???? i had no idea, my speedo is in KM's so i don't know how fast i was going"
i can guarantee you that there is at least 1 thing one every person on this boards car's that is illegal in their stateseien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen

Yea i know but I just want to have it match. So if i just plug and play a euro cluster into my car, after doing the math and resetting the euro clusters kilometerage equal to my american clusters milage, after doing that if i just plug it in, will it begin recording kilometers or miles?Comment

Yeah they are.
My car had a broken odo in it when I got it with 193k on the clock, so I wasnt too concerned about keeping track of the miles on it.
When driving I keep in mind that 100km is 62mph and 120km is 74mph. Anything less than 62mph wont get me a ticket on any road in my area, so I dont worry about it.Comment
