    New to BMW

Hello all. My name is Keegan and I'm purchasing an '87 325is next week.

The engine currently in the car is down for the count so i have the same engine out of an automatic to replace it. The car needs a new clutch, sunroof, brakes?, paint, front bump stops, and numerous cosmetics. It comes with eibach springs, bilstein shocks, and a beefed up sway bar.

I'll post a picture as soon as my camera is returned to me.

Tips for a newcomer to BMW are welcome!

Welcome! There is a lot of excellent information on this website as far as general maintenance, popular upgrades, etc. The 'search' button is your best friend!

    Enjoy your new car!

Maintenance first. Any history on the car?

I have no solid history on the car itself. It was owned by a middle aged woman, then a BMW enthusiast. It's vin# got six hits on carfax; i didnt purchase the complete report.

The engine came from an automatic that had a small fire. There was a fuel leak and the idiot driver decided to yank out the fuel line while the car was running. The hood and dash got burnt apparently but the engine is fine. The BMW enthusiast im buying the car from guarantees the engine works or he will replace it.

make sure you get signed paperwork of his guarantee. It'll help prevent any issues down the road.
