    Coolant temp sensor

I just got a new temp sensor from Pelican Parts and it doesn't look the same as the one in my car.

Does anybody have close pic of the sensor location on the thermostat?

Also, what is the diff between coolant temp sensor and sending unit?

Coolant temp sensor - senses the temperature of the coolant
Sending unit - sends this information to coolant gauge

So, maybe if I post pics you guys it will ring a bell.

This is what I got from Pelican, sold as a coolant temperature sensor/switch:

And this is what I see in my thermostat housing:

What you got there is a 45c switch.

It is what controls the cold high Idle function (among a few other things) on the L-jet and early DME system.

So why do they call it a coolant temp sensor? They also sell another part and call that the same thing. Two different parts same name.

It is a coolant temp switch... I don't know why they would call it a temp sensor.

On those cars there were also a thermo time switch (TTS) for the CS injector.

EDIT: Probably the same reason they call the oil separator on the new M/S 52s on a pressure regulator... It's to drive us all nuts.

                .

Just to clarify in layman’s terms, one measures actually temperature over a range (the one with the gray connector) while the other just turns on/off at a set temperature.

actually yes, but that's not why I got it.

Anybody know if there is a difference between the blue connector sensors and the ones with purple connectors?
