    Gong

Does anybody have an e30 with the gong working?

I haven't heard much, but from what i hear when you open a door a gong is supposed to go off and same when you start it up. Does anybody know how to fix it? I have never heard mine. Is it the gong itself broken or is it a wiring problem?

Trust me...you're better off with it not working. There's dozens of "how to unplug it" threads, but I never looked for one on how to fix it. If it's the gong itself broken in your case, I'm sure you'll get a good amount of PM's from people wanting to unload theirs.

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

hah fine with me. I actually do want a working gong. I heard from my cousin that usually you can get something with a screwdrive and a 9 volt battery and touch it to the gong that you can get it to go off. is it true? is there a way to check if its the gong thats the problem?

        Use your left-handed torque wrench.

surprisingly enough, the gong runs off 120v.

I absolutely hated mine. If the door was open with the keys in the ignition it would go off. It stopped working one day and I never really realized. When I did my audio I ripped it out just so that I would never have to hear it again.

Is that what the sizzling sound was when I plugged mine in?

What do you want it to do? Do you know all of the shit an E30 "gong" (chime module) can do?

                      check if it's plugged in.

If not, plug it in and test it. My bet is that it's already been chucked by a PO.

Why? It can send a "false" reading to the topside dash low washer warning indicator thing (pictured below) you have. So if you have plenty of washer fluid it will send a signal to that "thing" making it like you are out of washer fluid.

look, why did you even offer up your houndstooth for sale if you are going to change your mind and then blatantly state its something that its clearly not just to try and throw off interest? you know what? i dont want your houndstooth anymore, in fact i wouldnt take it if you offered it at half price. ill find another set. what a jackass
