It was the cops fault, but when the other police officers came they tried to sway his story in favor of the cop. He eventually got a lawyer and won.... but still .... so... moral of the story get a lawyer but it sounds like you already know that. good luck

Actually that was back in the 70's and it was an older lady, burnt her pretty good in her son's sports car. Had to do a case study on that. By the way, she got a few million for that, and they paid all of the medical for her being in the hospital cuz the coffee was between her legs so it burnt her down there pretty good.

Sorry to hear the car got totaled. Always wondered too what would happen if you got hit by a cop, glad the cops are treating you all good though and not trying to pin it on you.

my tow truck driver whos a good friend of mine went to ask the cops what happened... and they kinds studdered and said they cant really talk about it right now... im pretty shure they knew it was his fault and so thats why i got off so easy..

May be too late now, but since skid marks were clearly present, I would have taken pictures from where the skid marks started. They will help in court showing just how and when he tried to avoid you. Although the pictures you have pretty much prove the speeding story. He managed to hit you that hard and still had enough momentum to hit that thick brick wall, even after slamming on the breaks.

If they do determine its his fault I would think the city would give you some kind of compensation.

$1000 for a new car and if you lucky, maybe court costs.

i just realized all the interest in this subject and i hadn't been on here for a long time to be able to realize it. the outcome is this... there isn't one yet! 2 years later and it still isn't settled. the cops and they're lawyer are trying to all out of me that they can. but my insurance company isn't having it. my insurance has hired a lawyer to fight the pigs n they're lawyer and i may possibly be counter suing them if my lawyer says i have a solid case to stand on. hopefully i'm able to come up with something for this b.s. I've had to and still am dealing with. ill post up any updates as i find them out. i actually bought another E30 to swap everything over and build it up but now im being forced to move and in turn being left with no choice but to sell/part out the bmws. so if theyres anything you need at all feel free to let me know via PM and ill let you know if i have it or not.
