Best way to tow a car with no brakes?

I'll be picking up a new shell this January from another forum member. The only problem is that it will not have functioning brakes.

What is the best way to tow this car back the 100 miles or so? Should I use a trailer that only lifts the front wheels, or put it on a full trailer and strap it down tight?

Well now I don't know who to believe.

I'll go with higher post count on this one, because post count is directly related to knowledge.

chain hooked to a truck. have someone in the car with a shoe on the end of a broomstick to drag for brakes.

          you'll be fine.

If your truck is big enough to stop the wight of the car also then you should be fine if you keep it safe. I have towed cars home before with tow dollys and no brake hookups, thats what tow dollys are made for, just dont go racing arround on a wet mountain road and you will be fine as long as you have a decent size truck

If the flintstones can do it so can I. It's not my truck towing it anyway.

A tow dolly will be fine, most trailers don't have brakes anyway.

I have not much experiance with the 1500, the one i used was actually a 3/4 ton and i barly noticed the car was being towed. I would personally still go for it.

if your towing a car with or with out brakes its nto going to matter.
Do you really think someone is going to sit back there in the car while you tow it down the road?
When tow trucks pick cars up on the hook who press the brakes for them??
So either way its not going to matter unless your towing it with a chain.

Obviously not dude, I was worried about putting it on a full trailer and not being able to engage the ebrake in addition to strapping it down. I dont want to buy a shell and have it roll into the back of a truck before I even get to work on it.

ahhh, you wont have any issues, from the pics you showed me it looks like the guy has a flat enough ground around his house. So when you push it on you wont have to worry about it going any place.
strap it down with the straps provided and call it a day.

I meant while we're driving back, but that works too, I'll trust your opinion since I know you have some experience here.
