    CA Law

I'm going to be in Truckee, CA for school this next semester, and was wondering if I had to register my car in CA? Or can I keep my AZ junk and be good, other than the fact that I don't have a clue how to drive in snow?

Have you made a purchase from www.blunttech.com recently?

The law say's that if you live here you need a CA DL and Registration...

    Just don't live here...

+1. There should be an exception in the code for students going to school out of their home state.

Do nothing. My friend from Tucson has been here for like 3 years. Gets away with dark tint and other stuff because she is just here for "the semester".

yep! that way you can skirt all of the stupid CA stuff like tint, headlight height, neon under the car, lighted windshield squirters, lighted valve stem caps.

they will still pull you over and harass you though, it is not a total free ticket

I'm pretty sure you technically get 3 months before you have to switch registration, but there isn't really any way for the police to verify that you haven't left the state during that time, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Your biggest worry is that you are going to be in Truckee.

If you get pulled over, don't say you "moved here/live here" - the law is something like you must get a CA license after 10 days of "moving" here.

technically if you "live" in ca, you have to get ca tags and license after 10 days, even if you are a student. so just say you are visiting people.

Will you be maintaining your "permanent" residence in az?

Thanks guys, I'm not "moving" to CA, just "visiting", officer.

Yes, and he'll try and trick you and ask where the ticket should be sent to, tell him your out of state address - there is no law that you can't "visit" somewhere for months on end - not that I know of anyways.
