    S52 Pricing?

I have the opportunity to buy a '96 S52 that has been gone through with new valve seals, valve lapping, honed out, etc. It would be a complete engine with all accesories.

Anyone know a ballpark on what these are selling for lately??

              Bimmer world sells running engines

The Euro Depot will send you every part for the swap in a "kit" the m50 would have been 2600 shipped, and i think a s50 would have been 4K closer to five though. and they warantee all their parts and they are low milage. I think if i ever do this again they will be who i buy from

there wouldn't be a warranty on this one. It's all apart now with all new parts and needs to be put back together so I would be doing that myself. All accessories for the motor are included, tranny is not, it's going in my buddies e36.

I wouldn't be keeping this motor if I got it, too expensive to swap over to OBD1 (isn't that about $1500?) But I'm thinking I could make enough to fund a lot of my M50 or S50 swap just by putting it together and selling it.

teh parts to change to OBD1 are not expensive, you couyld do it for about 400. hell if it has all new parts you do not need a warantee.

                  OBD1:
                  95 and earlier intake manifold
                  wiring harness and DME
                  coils
                  and a couple other things

you dont need obd1 coils and 400 is a bit optimistic for an obd1 conversion even without coils. id say 600 if you shop wisely. if you did it for 400 congrats. thats a great buy

Thanks guys. Looks like there is definately room to make a little on this thing. Now to see if I can find the time to mess with it.

I wonder if that is complete or just the long block? A lot of times salvage prices are long block only, then it's easy to get another grand wrapped up in rest.

As far as I knew the Obd1 coils are different from the Obd2 and that they are not interchangable.
