A walkman is better than an ipod dude.
Screw all that digital crap and give me a mixtape anyday, I'll put it in my cassette player, if it worked at all, and rawk out.

I still put in hours for fun at the dealership I worked at through college and I've been in a lot over my time there. I obviously over the time fell deepest in love with a nice E39 and remain happy in my decision. But even the E90 loaners are nice cars to drive and one of my ex's had one that was still fun to drive albeit not my E30 on GCs... Although I may miss the V8 if I change cars, I really like E90s and would pick up a CPO silver on black down the road here.

Either be sure to have a warranty or have enough money to "pay to play" with a newer BMW. The conveniences are awesome, and doesn't hurt to roll up in a nice newer car.

There's plenty of people here who will hate on them being big, heavy, disconnected... Easy solution: keep a raw and fun E30 in your drive too.

For all of those who have never ripped into an M coupe, I suggest you do.

          Z3 or Z4?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

The truth is the E30 just feels ilke an old car to me, nothing really special about it. My E36 M3 is a fantastic car but i which it rode like my wife's E46 330i. I love my wifes 330 but i which it had Bluetooth, Nav and an ipod adaptor like the newer cars.

Saying an E30 is better than an E90 is like saying a Walkman is better than an Ipod.

I wasn't saying it was better, just feels more intimate, I'd love to own an e90 cabbie, but it is a totally different car.

The e90 in coupe and cabriolet form really felt like more of an e24, a bigger sport touring car, I'd compare a 128i to an e30.

I have a 97 e39 540ia. Its a great car. I love the look and it has great power. I put a PSS coil-over kit and wheels. It's not a new car but the body is a classic.

I got a whole days worth of seat time in my friends 07 Z4 M coupe. It was very solid and predictable for how fast it was. Just awsome.

I loved how the z3 M coupe fit like a glove

the newer BMWs are tons better than the older ones even e30s------(for a daily driving comfort feeling)

and it is all lies--- a stock e30 feels like a piece of crap on the street too. A stock new 3er feels really comfortable to drive- even a bit hard/stiff. At my work we have a few customers that have coilovers on the newer e90 and e60 bodystyles and they feel really nice-- plus it is really nice to have a quiet comfortable car to drive daily.

The biggest complaint on the newer cars is the run on flat tires they are putting on them-- loud and VERY heavy-- they really hurt the feel of the suspension.

don't get me wrong, I love my e30s too, but for daily it isnt really that much fun to hear a loud exhaust with stiff suspension for hours with the wife and kid in the car for a drive across germany.

My family has an E46 M3 that my mom mainly drives, nice fun fast car.

Although in terms of luxuries I'm still drawn to the older stuff, I ADORE my e28 for simple cruising and prefer it as my primary vehicle. It just glides down the road and you don't feel a thing.

I like taking the x3 on trips around town or on long trips. Totally comfortable, but for raw driving prefer the e30 323i or ///M

I've driven just about every BMW since the e30 because I work at the dealer. Of all the 3 series, I really like the e46 330i ZHP; its got the power and I love the seats. It is a very, very solid car. For the 5ers, I for some reason have an attachment to the e60 530i Sport with a stick-great long-distance car that is for whatever reason very fun to drive. For the 7's, the best driver is probably the e38 740i sport. The newer ones are still extremely capable cars, but the interior quality is on the low side for the $$$ and there isn't a whole lot of feel. The new diesels are very, very nice for anyone who hasn't driven one, and I must say the 128i coupe is a blast as well. For whatever reason, I don't like the 135i as much. The power delivery of the 128i is much more linear, and it is still a very compentent car.

As for a car that feels the most like an e30, or at least mine, it would have to be the honda s2000 minus about 100 horses. A stock e30 doesn't drive better than any modern BMW really, but a well-modified one can be more fun and not too much louder, while being more fuel efficient.

Thats the whole reason I own an e30. I get in it and it feels like a old roller coaster that loves to be pounded on. I dont care about the refinement and the bigger HP the new cars have. Bring it to the track, ill be right on your ass in the e30.

I own an 06 G35 that my wife drives, its boring. I cant imagine throwing mods at it would fix that.

The older cars just do it for me.
