    Tough decision guys... Need advice

so, when i was 19 i bought a 94 jetta vr6. it was fun, i really loved that car but i sold it about 3 years ago in order to buy a friends 91 gti vr6. he had it shipped from socal and had gotten into some trouble and sold it to another friend. he wanted to buy a house a few months later, so it went back up for sale.

i went to get a loan, got approved, and called him to pick the car up. sadly, he told me he had just sold it to his cousin the day before. i found my e30 a few weeks later and bought that. my e30 is a blast when it runs, and ive put a lot of time and money into it.

6 months ago, the brother of the kid who originally purchased the gti was contacted by the current owner. he had been daily driving it for 2 years, in buffalo winters and everything. he ended up buying it, and has replaced a lot of parts.

now, he became obsessed with tracking this past summer, and has realized the vr is too front heavy to sucessfully track. he is looking to trade my e30 for it.

as much as i love my e30, i would love to have a reliable summer daily again. my e30 has become too much of a hastle to maintain.

what would you do if you were in my shoes?

    specs for the gti

mainly looking for cash but i would consider a trade- what im really looking for in a trade is a 92 or 93 accord 5 speed 4 door with good paint, no rust, and clean interior. power windows/locks/working cruise, ps, and ac are a plus, and i would like cash on your part for a bone stock cb7. I would consider straight up trade or possibly cash on my part for a neatly done h22a swapped cb7. no rice, no hack jobs plz.

    $3200

this car is seriously a blast to drive. tons of na power and torque at all rpms, no grinds, clutch feels brand new, very smooth ride. also, the car is completely rot free, there is a bit of surface rust forming on the rocker panels that i have been meaning to take care of but haven't gotten around to yet. a few hours of sanding/spraying and it should be as good as new.

    the bad-
    -needs tires
    -squeaky front driver side strut
-weird "jingling sound"? (idk how else to describe it) when in 2nd gear. if you push it to the right while in gear the sound goes away. its weird, and the car still shifts perfectly, something is loose with the 1.9 z3 short shift.
-needs a passenger side fender (dented/paint peeling)
-rash around the fuel door area
-2 small dings on trunk lid, 1 small ding on the drivers side fender
-tach/fuel gauge dont work (warning light will come on for fuel gauge when you're right around 2 gallons left in the tank, but it doesnt display fuel level right.)

        :D

The A2 seems a little rough around the edges, but if it isn't rusty then it might make a decent DD. Those things are very fun with VR swaps.

Your E30 looks nice, but the way you speal about the Vdub its very noticable that you rather be driving that. By the way what wheels are on the E30. I believe that they're stock on a vdub but not sure on the model. Never seen them in 4lug only 5.

Like mentioned above, the mk2 looks like a clapped out piece of shit. I currently own a swapped shitbox (the wagon) and I can tell you, I'd much rather have a clean stockish 318is instead. Swapped cars always have annoying quirks, it's just part of the process. I'd say, keep the e30, throw a bit more $ into it so it'll be reliable and call it done. Also, I always see people regret selling their e30s.

So you're saying that a VR6 swapped A2 is your idea of a reliable summer car?

so i also really love volkswagens, my winter car is a 2004 jetta TDI, and i had a mkII gli that got totalled by some drunk lady, but i would have to say, even if it were me, i would totally pass on this particular v-dub. if you go to vwvortex and check out the classified forums there, they have a specific section for mkII stuff. for the money you would pay for that car, you could buy SOOOO much more car from one of the adds on there.

It sounds like you really just want your v-dub back, but patience is a virtue.
