          Per Massa's website:

"Budapest, 26 July 2009 - After undergoing an operation yesterday afternoon, Felipe Massa's condition remains stable and there were no further complications through the night. He will given another CT scan today, which will provide more precise information."

So it's looking a little better, but the true extent of the injuries is not yet known. I was thinking about it yesterday as I watched the incident, it wouldn't surprise me to see Brawn be fined for this. I mean, I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but they still had a car on track that had loose parts flying around. Had Barrichello made it into Q3, I'm sure his car would have been black-flagged (black with orange circle that is) for safety rerasons. The FIA has made some pretty unusual calls in the past, and it really wouldn't surprise me to see them hand the team a fine for allowing an unsafe vehicle to go on course. Only time will tell though, kind of like having to wait until 3:00 PM EST to watch today's race (GRRRR!!!!)

If the FIA fines them for a bizarre technical failure of the car, that would be pretty fucked up in my opinion.

Wasn't it Magny Cours a couple years ago where Raikkonen had his fucking flying around and only being held on by a sensor or something? They weren't fined for that incident which in my mind was obviously intentional vs Rubens' car having a freak failure.

Yeah, I figured it's pretty unlikely, but I could see the stewards/FIA saying the car should have been better examined before it rolled onto the course. Certainly not intentional by any stretch of the imagination, but probably fine-able.

I hope not, I think that would set a dangerous precedent.

Never underestimate how big of idiots the stewards and FIA are. I mean how long did it take them to rule on Weber last race? It took like 10 laps before they penalized him when it was black and white obvious he was at fault for contact going into turn 1.

Obviously the suspension on the brawn car broke and I dont see how you fine a car/team for mechanical faluire.... now if a wheel came off because the nut wasnt properly torqued down yes.

After watching today's race, I had to point out what a lovely bit of irony that was.

Great race, glad to see a shakeup in the results (in comparison to the first half of the season.) What a shame for Alonso; and the same for Vettel, I'm not sure what the fuck happened to his car. I couldn't help but notice the number of rather amateur pit mistakes today (one with Alonso, another with Webber, and I think there was another at some point during the latter stages of the race.)

Good God, four weeks off is going to be brutal.

Seems harsh. Clearly Fernando was slowing down to get back to pit.

They may of reviewed the team chatter and found that Renault told Alonso to push back to the pits. The exclusion is because they did not tell Alonso the wheel nut was not on properly.

Shame for Alonso, even more pissed about Massa. He could of taken it to Hamilton this weekend [judged by how much faster he has been than Kimi this year] Instead he lost out 2 spots in the drivers championship.

What a mess of events! Alonso was very calm after what happened, and am I the first to say, pretty impressive with the new 19 year old driver!
