why do e30 exhausts suck?

i loved my old POS's exhaust. supersprint headers to a catless dual resonator center section back to a b&b triflow. sounded amazing, i miss it daily.

Mine will be here today and I'm getting it installed as soon as it gets here. I'll post up a video of what it sounds like. If it's too loud, I'll just throw the stock back on and sell it. I'm getting older, too, but I still like a little sound.

Wow, this thread REALLY makes me want to get a new exhaust! I currently have the stock e30 exhaust on it and it does NOT compare to any aftermarkets I've heard. Any suggestions on a relatively cheap, yet great sounding exhaust?

+1 have the "magnum" (why did they have to call it magnum? sounds like a trojan series for mufflers) series system on the wifes eta. kinda boomy on the freeway, but sounds a lot better than stock.

I love the tone of my stock exhaust, but want something a bit louder without dropping hundreds on something. Going to order a Magnaflow 14815 muffler soon...I like what I've seen of it from YouTube vids.

Back to the OP. E30 exhausts suck because they don't offer anything but a new noise. If they actually supplied a performance gain people would post "FTW" all day long. I just rock the stock with some complimentary holes (not by choice) and sound like a beast.

I'm just tired of the droning, and I'm not a fan of 90% of the aftermarket exhausts for the E30 (by relative comparison to the E36/E46).


however I'm pumped now about the Eisenmann E30 find, might have to actually be diagnosed as clinically insane and drop the $1300+ on it :)

$1300 for a exhaust? Thats more than what I bought my car. No point to drop that much on a exhaust which will barely give you little to none gain. If its the sound factor your going for, i think you can build a exhaust system for half that price.
