85 coupe $1,300 good or bad

Well i have been lookin for a e30 for a while and lastnite on the way back from work one past me up with a 4sale sign lol. So I followed the guy home (not the smartest thing). The dood was pissed & yellin at me for following him home. WTF dood u have a 4sale sign on the car he just laughes & apologized he said he barely had put it on the car. I say faith lol. Hes askin for 1,300 but i think i can take it home for 800. 5speed odo reads 118215 but i hear the odo suck's on e30's. The body looked square didnt notice any bumps other than cracked tail light. It was late 11pm so couldnt really tell. Everything on the car seems to work. Interier is fukked up. My Real question is how hard is it to convert the front and rear to newer style e30s not diggin the alum. bumpers. Is it a matter of gettin like a mtech kit cuttin the old and slappin it on some fiberglass & bodyfiller or do i need a donor car. Is it worth it or should I just wait & find a newer one. My goal is a project car (i work 6 days a week 10hr shifts) lol

I don't get this first thing... so much for helping out.

I dont' know what to tell you as far as price. I don't know how the e30 market is for you where you live, but I've seen late model e30's go for around 1700 on craigslist in my town. There is one in particular that is really clean for cheap and it comes with the 'i' motor and late model valences.

If the car is in good shape, then its not a bad place to start. If you plan on doing an engine swap like most people who consider their e30 to be a real 'project' then that would be the last thing I would be worried about.

I would have to agree with gary, In my town e30 parts are pretty far away, SO if you dont plan on working on the body to much wait and get one thats late model with the bumpers you like. It doesnt sound like your just looking for something to drive, you actually like the cars. Although E bimmers are great its best to start with an I, especially since you have quite the work schedule.
