I'm replacing the driver's knee panel that was missing when I bought the car. I purchased the panel and the three securing screws. Is that all that is needed? I've noticed a clip in the rear just to the left of the clutch pedal so by using this and the three new attaching screws the panel still droops over the brake pedal. I have small feet and it still interferes when hitting the brake. Very dangerous. What am I missing here? TIA guys

hmm. you know the four screws that hold the fabric surfaced cardboard to the knee bolster part that goes under the steering wheel? Well i replaced those four screws (weak) with 7/16 bolts and lock nuts.. its super solid and holds up very nice.
I dont think you are missing anything that I know of. Although all of my cars are nut and bolted.

What year / model is your car?
Are you talking about a non air bag or air bag knee bolster?
If it's the non-air bag, it's just 3 plastic top screws that you turn 90 degress to lock, and the one locking bracket on the steering shaft to keep the lower section away from the pedals.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

like Tree18is said, there are the three screws that you can visibly see. two on the left of the steering wheel and 1 on the right. then there is 1 underneath the steering wheel that is the most important one. it holds it in place. it is a different type of screw than the other 3. check this for reference...
12 is the three screws
28 is the 4th

It says right there #28 is for cars with airbags. Both of my non-air bag cars only use 3 plastic screws #12 and one #13 to secure the bottom part of the panel.
My reply was for the OP, I couldn't tell what year/model car he's got.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

I replaced my 87 cardboard with an airbag bolster. I like it much better. Instead of plastic nuts, I went to an old school hardware store and bought the screw clips and screws to insert onto the dash where the plastic nut holes reside.Yours truly,
Rich

Thanks for all of the advice and guidance from all of you. I found that steering column clip for the non airbag car. It was there alright. Problem was it was removed from the column and stuffed up in some of the wiring. Now it is in its' correct place and all is great now. Thanks again and I only hope to be able to help any of you out sometime. YOY in Chehalis, Wasigpic
