Car jack

I just remembered I wanted to ask this a few months ago, but it slipped my mind.

My little e30 jack is great and all... looks like it can handle the job. But there's a problem with it... I tried using it in the fall to swap my wheels, but as soon as I started lifting the first corner, I noticed the jack started digging into my sideskirt... Not cool!! Now there's a paint chip out of it which I'll be getting repaired in the spring.

Now I have an aluminum floor jack for garage use... works beautifully for home use. But what I want to know is, are there any useful alternatives for a trunk-stored jack in case of an emergency? I would prefer not to use the oem one because of the digging issue... and I'm not going to lug my aluminum one around with me everywhere.

you must have put it in the wrong place.

there's two designated points on each side of the e30 for this purpose. its reinforce exactly to prevent that.

as for the aluminum one, i would check the e30 jacking points, you don't want to be damaging your car either if you don't know where these jacking points are.

unless your car is reaaaaly rusted (like my first e30) what you describe shouln't happen. i actually sold mine for the rust reason, it floor boards wanted to cave in. i'm on the third e30 -.-

it fits on the pinch welding on the bottom of the car. i carry 1 with me and another one in my tool box. they work on all dirrerent cars with side skirts and should work with my IX skirts as well as you zenders.

i see what you mean. hmmm... might have to try and e24 or e28 jack if you want it to fit in your stock location does this happen all around? because you can lift an entire side by jacking from the front or rear jacking points of the car.

Jesus, just use your fucking jack while you're at home. You don't need a full aluminum jack while you're running around. Get AAA and have your car towed, changing tires on the road is dangerous.

My car's too low to even use the stock jack and I only have 4 tires in my tread anyway. Took the spare and jack out, weight savings ++
