Interesting, I'll have to look into that...

My car's too low to even use the stock jack and I only have 4 tires in my tread anyway. Took the spare and jack out, weight savings ++
I do use my aluminum jack when I'm at home.... kinda why I bought it. And you're right, changing tires on the road is dangerous, but shit happens sometimes. Luckily I do have AAA but I sometimes feel like an ass having a guy drive out just to change my tire for me. I don't have a vagina. Still, it is an option... I don't pay for nothing...

My car is too low... bottle jack won't stand up straight under it. That's why I bought my aluminum jack.

I do need new tires come spring, but these are a pretty expensive option, and the negatives outweigh the positives from what I've heard.

      Its 2009, not likely.

Instead of a car jack and spare tire I keep a bottle of fix a flat, a tire pump that runs off my A/C jack, and a car charger for my phone. Realistically there's close to nowehre in the U.S. that you won't have cell service.

        Possible...

Around where I live I don't have that big a problem with cell service, but there are a few pockets here and there with shitty/no reception.

Also, I have a cottage much further north, and the only thing there are trees and hicks. Like I said, shit happens. Better to plan to be self sufficient if the occasion calls for it.

those moclamp pads run around $50 and are worth EVERY penny.

not to insult, but they go on the car opposite of how they are pictured in the ad. the little slot in the middle is for a "Rack Jack" ,but it will work well with most floor jacks and allow you to jack up the car ANYWHERE on the pinch weld, not just the factory jack points.

i have used the constantly on european cars. it seems like every new one has a form of side skirt and i have yet to find one that it doesn't work on.

So basically you would flip it with the flat side facing up, put it over top of the jack point (let's say), and then put the jack on the pinch? gives the jack additional height so that it doesn't interfere with the body work... I like the idea.

On a very similar note... I was wondering what I could do in a different situation...
My aluminum jack, being low profile, only goes so high. Sometimes I'd like to get the car a bit higher up, but am skeptical of sitting it on stands, then adding an additional layer between the jack and the car to raise it up higher.... wouldn't trust just any material in case it failed. Has anyone had success in finding something to do the trick here?

            To be more specific...
Jack up the car, raise jack stands as high as they can fit, rest car on jack stands, place something a few inches tall between the jack and car, raise it up further and raise jack stand to accommodate. The take down procedure would have to be the opposite.

I just want to know what material I could use. Something with grip, but also very strong. (wood would splinter, concrete or brick could fail, solid metal might work but could possibly slip)

so use a better jack once you use the aluminum jack to get the car more than a couple inches off the ground

Scissor jack. Get one from the junkyard for a few bucks.

I have a 4x4 I put the jack on top of. Distrube the weight across most of the wood. It worked for me. I don't love doing it, it scares me a little, but it gets the job done.

Are you serious I know plenty of places just a little outside of here that have absolutely no service for a cell phone. You are a fucking idiot for driving around with no spare and jack... Seriously what the 25 lbs makes you rape your streets that much harder? Fuckin ricers.
