    New turbo

Do you think I'll be able to fit this under the hood?

It's actually an A/C compressor for an MD-11 (a big airplane). I always dug how they look like big turbochargers, basically that's what the are...sort of.

Yes, I took it at work. Each MD-11 has three of them. They run about $35k each IIRC.

Direct bolt on. With a turbo that big you dont have to upgrade anything. Just bolt it on and go! LMAO

Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

So does that mean that the engine is there solely to spin the turbine? not power the car?

The intercooler is in the car.

                      The intake is just nonexistant.

intake prob comes back through the firewall directly behind that adapter....

im thinking custom chassis with twin chevy 572's with that thing feeding both of them...
can you imagine the lag tho?

oh and why does an airplane need a/c? isnt it freezing ass cold up there?

They actually use the AC system to pressurize the interior of the airplane so you can breathe and not pass out from oxygen deprivation in about 4 seconds. At 39000 feet, the inside of an airliner can be kept at a "pressure altitude" of, say 5000 feet. You know how the guys who climb Mt. Everest need to wear oxygen masks? The AC system on a pressurized jet can keep the interior of a jet in Denver (so to speak) while it flies over Mt Everest. Does that make sense?

And yes, they warm the interiors at cruise altitude.

so its not AC its just to maintain cabin pressure.... i knew they had to pressurize the cabin, idk why OP said AC

Myst folks in aviation call them heat or air cycle machines.

It's just a heat exchanger to make the bleed air off a turbine cool so the air pressurizing the cabin is not 9 bazzilion degrees.
