Thanks dude. My friends and I built it in my home garage - engine, installed the 'box, all the suspension, tuned it ourselves - the whole 9 yards. Was a great experience and I miss it now (I pulled it apart, sold the parts off and bought a house).

Going out to pick up an E30 to replace the void in my life since I sold my old red 325i back in '06 (when I bought the Subaru).

EDIT: Forgot to answer this, I'm 99% sure that car is owned by a guy in the US, I think searching 240z should pull it up on google and link you to forums he's on. Those wheels are photoshopped too, he has different, better(IMO) ones on it.

Specs: 1995 STi RA engine, 2006 DCCD Spec C 6MT & plated R180, Haltech E11v2 ECU, PE1820 turbo, custom FMIC, 650cc injectors, Exedy clutch, Buddy Club Racing Spec Damper coilovers (JDM yo!), 3" turbo-back exhaust, STi alloy control arms, Whiteline swaybars & solid 'links, Whiteline adjustable rear-control arms, 07 Spec C trailing arms, 2004 JDM STi hubs & CV shafts (for R180), STi CF strut brace, 2005 WRX 4/2 pot brakes, braided lines, brake master cylinder stopper, removed ABS & air con, STi RA seats and lots, lots more. Did a 12.2 @ 119mph. :)

Yours looks to be a hel of a lot more fun than mine, I'm poor right now so all I have is STi suspension and steering wheel, and a turbo timer, oh and a home depot lip. I need to repaint my hood though, that's not bird crap :(, and you can see how it's not as shiny because the PO repainted it horribly, though the picture amplifies it.

Its too bad I don't have any money because the connections I have are ridiculous, I could probably keep up with you on the track if I put $1k into it :o Oh well, that's not really why I bought it :(

Yeah that's me. The clear-coat goes on all Gen1s, mate. Mine had it bad on the roof and the original RS bootlid, too.

A 6-speed, R180 and good coilovers makes for a fucking awesome Subaru, dude. You need to get yourself a 6MT! Four-wheel powerslides and ripping the fuck out turbo Nissans and Toyotas never gets old - the best is when you can trounce a GT-R or Evo at the track (they never like being beaten by a silly old Subaru four-door that isn't a WRX)

Shit no. It is essentially like an S54 swap into an E30.

It bolts in the same as a stock one, but the STi RA was a JDM model that came with forged internals, big camshafts, bigger ported heads and a 5th fuel injector in the intake manifold for Group A rallying. It has roughly twice the standard power when tuned properly.

The Legacy/Liberty RS was the precurser to the WRX/STi so all Pre-1999 Impreza stuff bolts in and swaps between models no worries. Mine also benefitted from the gearbox, diff, hubs and driveshafts of a 2006 Spec C (JDM-only lightweight homologation model with plated 2way diffs, etc) so I could do 8000rpm clutch-drops without worrying about breaking a gearbox.

My engine copped a fair bit of extra love with the custom intercooler, bigger custom turbo, ported exhaust/up-pipe/wastegate, bigger fuel injectors (stock is 380cc I had 650cc), custom fuel rails (made at home), Haltech standalone ECU (incl. anti-lag and launch control) that we tuned ourselves... and I'm not a mechanic either.

Still, all that work and it was heaps of fun, but it didn't get into your soul, didn't get right under your skin like a well-sorted E30 does.

I might get a 6MT, the PO swapped in a Legacy non turbo tranny, and the clutch slips bad above 11-12 lbs at high RPMs. I don't think I'm in any danger of running into a GT-R at the track Though I did on the freeway in my e30(I Lost :() But beating Evos and STis would be fun, especially with all my friends that drive them :p

About the paint, I'm know paint expert, but it looks like a respray to me, the rest of the car, roof, trunk, everything, looks perfect, it's just the hood and hood scoop, whatever it is it needs new clearcoat or paint.

Thanks man. Yes and no regarding difficulty - I meant it more from a performance upgrade. You have to swap crank angle sensor, cam angle sensor and the intake manifold wiring loom to the WRX version.

There is heaps of other stuff to do, though, to make it work well... ;)
